My client is developing an innovative high performance micro-concentrator solar cell array produceable at a fraction of the cost of alternative technologies. Due to the low cost parallel-processing approach coupled with the high performance optics and multi-junction solar cell combination, the solar module will have the lowest $/W ratio available in the marketplace.
The solar industry continues to grow at a double digit rate, demanding the highest performance solar modules at the lowest possible cost. My client has developed unique technology licensed from a Midwestern university which is capable of massively parallel transfer printing very small solar cell chips onto a solar panel at very low cost. The technology enables the use of very high performance multi-junction III-V compound (GaAs) semiconductor solar cells. My client is a pre-IPO company offering equity and benefits, as well as relocation assistance.
Concentrator PV Solar Cell Design Engineer: will be responsible for developing unique epitaxial structures and processes compatible with the transfer printing technology. Objectives for the candidate include design, fabrication and characterization of high concentration solar cell prototypes and further optimization of the design to increase throughput, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. The anticipated result is a highly manufacturable and scalable product. The candidate will work with a dynamic team of engineers and partners engaged in this exciting and multi-disciplinary field and will report directly to the VP of Technology.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must have an advanced degree in EE, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or equivalent and 5+ years of industry experience. The individual must be technically strong and have experience developing processes and products intended for use in manufacture. Experience in the solar CPV industry is highly desirable. In addition, the candidate must be a highly motivated individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills and who is a good team player.
This position is located on the Eastern Coast, and will require previous experience with GaAs technology.IF you are interested, and feel that this description is a good match for your skills and experience, please submit a resume with cover letter addressing the job description. Referrals and suggestions are always welcomed, and please feel free to pass this information to anyone you like.

COMPANY: My client is a nanotechnology company using carbon nanotubes for the development of next-generation semiconductor devices. These devices include memory, logic, and other semiconductor products. In the field of memory, they are developing NVRAM, a high-density nonvolatile Random Access Memory. The company's objective is to deliver a product that will replace all existing forms of memory, such as DRAM, SRAM and flash memory, with NVRAM serving as universal memory. The potential applications for the nonvolatile memory being developed are extensive and include the ability to enable instant-on computers and to replace the memory in devices such as cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras, and PDAs, as well as applications in the networking arena. NVRAM can be manufactured for both standalone and embedded memory applications. The company is a successful, stable, and growing company that is a leader in the field of nanotechnology.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Analytical Scientist with 3-5 years experience developing methods for the characterization of colloidal solutions of nanoparticles. Will be an integral part of our new product development effort to create new carbon nanotube and other nanoparticle based products. Support will be for our new materials discovery efforts, as well as for engineering process development. This will require the establishment of known , fundamental analytical tools and procedures for characterizing colloidal nanotube products, as well as developing new methods, where required, to characterize complex formulations. The incumbent will also be responsible for driving good analytical protocols for QC and QA methods, and to support the creation of statistically designed experiments, along with the organization and interpretation of the analytical results. Experience in new product development with colloidal systems and/or liquid carbon formulations is highly desirable. Experience in specifying new equipment, designing an analytical laboratory for colloidal fluid characterization and setting up data handling systems also a plus. The successful candidate will be central in building an analytical organization to support the R&D and Process Design Engineering efforts in a start up environment. We are looking for an innovative builder. This is a technical, "hands on" position, and requires working collaboratively with the rest of the development organization. The successful candidate will have the creative energy, ingenuity and enthusiasm to successfully meet the materials development challenges.
